What I Learned?

WOW!!!!!. I learn a lot about doing this blog or project. I learned all about amusements parks what I learn is In the late 1800s amusement parks started taking hold in the United States. Most amusement parks were built at the end of a trolley line. They usually had picnic areas, dance halls, restaurants, games and a few rides. They were immediately successful. I also learned that Paul Boynton opened the world's first modern amusement park, Paul Boynton's Water Chutes. It charged admission and used rides to draw people to it. In 1895, he also opened a park at Coney Island. Coney Island was central to the amusement park industry. Once it had three big amusement parks, plus smaller attractions. I also, learn that is a lot of work that goes into running an amusement park. You have to go through a lot to make it to the top and get an grade A theme park. I learned that In 1912, the first under friction roller coaster was introduced by John Miller. This design held the coaster train on the track and allowed for more speed, steeper hills, and less drag. The 1920s saw the building of some of the best roller coasters of all times. But the 1929 stock market crash, followed by the Great Depression and the Second World War, caused a decline in the parks. This has been one of the good fun projects to do at ACT Charter School and i enjoy doing this project even though people tease about doing this project cause I don't get on any roller coaster rides because I’m scared but I have learn a lot and I will keep learning more as I get older. One day I’m to open my own amusement park. That's when I would have known all my dreams have come true!!!!!!!!!!!!!

History

Amusement park is the more generic term for a collection of amusement rides and other entertainment attractions assembled for the purpose of entertaining a fairly large group of people. An amusement park is more elaborate than a simple city park or playground, as an amusement park is meant to cater to adults, teenagers, and small children. An amusement park may be permanent or temporary, usually periodic, such as a few days or weeks per year. The temporary (often annual) amusement park with mobile rides etc. is called a funfair or carnival. The original amusement parks were the historical precursors to the modern theme parks as well as the more traditional midway arcades and rides at county and state fairs (in the United States). Today, amusement parks have largely been replaced by theme parks, and the two terms are often used interchangeably. For a remarkable example of a European park, dating from 1843 and still existing, see Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen. Even older is the Oktoberfest which is not only a beer festival but also provides a lot of amusement park features, dating back to 1810, when the first event was held in Munich, Germany.During the peak of the "golden age" of amusement parks from roughly the turn of the 20th century through the late 1920s, Coney Island at one point had three distinct amusement parks: Steeplechase Park, Luna Park (opened in 1903), and Dreamland (opened in 1904). However, the Great Depression of the 1930s and World War II during the 1940s saw the decline of the amusement park industry. Furthermore, fire was a constant threat in those days, as much of the construction within the amusement parks of the era was wooden. In 1911, Dreamland was the first Coney Island amusement park to completely burn down; in 1944, Luna Park also burned to the ground. The theme park is the modern amusement park, either based on a central theme or, divided into several distinctly themed areas, or "spaces" as is often used. Large resorts, such as Walt Disney World in Florida (United States), actually house several different theme parks within their confines. The first such built park still in operation is 'Bakken' at Klampenborg, north of Copenhagen. It was founded in 1583. Walt Disney is credited with having originated the concept of the themed amusement park. Disneyland was based loosely on Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, Children's Fairyland in Oakland, California and various World's Fairs. Several Disneyland attractions — Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, "it's a small world", and the dinosaurs of Primeval World — were built by Disney's in-house manufacturing department (Walt Disney Imagineering) for the 1964 New York World's Fair. When the fair closed, Disney relocated the shows to a permanent home at Disneyland.

Personal Reflection

My reason for chosing this project is really simple. I say that because I enjoy going to theme parks just being around bunch of people enjoy seeing there smiling face enjoying there day. When I first went to a amusement park I remember it I was like seven years-old it was fun was I really enjoyed going going to kiddie land even though I really didn't get on know rides because I was to afriad to get on and plus I was to freaking scared of heights. All I really did was play the games that was played all the games that you can win gifts from so I rarely left the ground to go the get on the rides. When I did get on the rides I would yell at the top of my lungs cause I was scared of how fast the ride was going. Its was always fun when I did get on though. People always ask me what I was to do when I get grown? I tell them that I want to open my own theme park. They always ask me do you get on all the rides when I go to an amusement park and I tell them "No" and they say how are you going to open your own amusement park if you can't get on no high roller coasters? I tell them that I'll have a test dummy so they can test the rides and they can tell me what I can do to make it better, they just can tell me how the rides go. I feel like this project will be fun to do because all amusement theme parks are fun to go to and enjoy yourself. I think this project is different and I think uniqe. This should be fun to do.

What Keeps People Coming Back To Amusement Parks

What I think that keep's people coming back to amusement parks is that the good time people they have at theme parks just knowing they are leaving happy makes people faces. I know when the young kids come into the parks they just going to have a good time at the parks. I thinks that's what all that matter is seeing there kids having a smile on there face coming in and leaving out I think that makes a mom and dad happy and puts a smile on there face knowing that they just gave there kids they gave there kids one of the best days of there lives. The reason I think that people keeps coming back because of the good entertainment at there theme parks you can do more than just getting on roller coasters. You can walk around and play the games and win a bunch of prizes for you and your child. Its just a good get a way for some fun and to get out I mean people just want to have fun and that's a good thing they just don't want to sit in the house all day that's just boring. When you go to parks of any sort you suppose to make your customer want to keep coming back to your park. When they leave they theme park they should feel a thrill just being there. The roller coasters should be at the top of the line people should be talking about your park. Another thing that keep them coming could be the food they serve at the park cause nobody wants to walk around and not get feed. People want to enjoy themselves when they go to spend there money they are looking for a good time and that's what I would want and that's what you should give them a good time.

What I Know & What I Want Know

I chose to do my paper on Amusement Parks. I chose this project because I felt like that this could be fun on my part by learning about amusement parks just to see what they go through. One day I plan to own my own Amusement Park someday. I would like to know if you need some type of college degree to start your own amusement park, Do you need to get some money loans just to get started, I also know do I need to go the real estates to get my property, How do the amusement parks go nation wide, Can you lose your amusement park and if you can how. What I already know about amusement parks, Is that they have a variety of rides that you can chose from for you to get on, I also know that at amusement parks they a have a bunch of workers, I know that they have lots of gifts shops for the people to shop in so that you could take a parting gift home, they sale food so you won't be walking around hungry and it's not just one place you can eat there are a bunch of places for you to eat so you don't just have to eat at one place they get a lot of places so they know they will please there custermers, I know that they have a parking lot for people to park there cars at, you can win prizes for yourself or for your date if you are on one, I know that they have mascots running around to please the little kids to take pictures with and things just to put a smile on everybody face. The amusement park aim is to please each person that walks through that welcome gate. There are so many thing I want to know about amusement parks and so many thing I want to get into. When they first open the amusement park do they do good on the business.
